Oh, being awake this early on my morning off sucks!!!! But oh well. I'm awake now.
I watched Let the Right One In yesterday. An urban Swedish vamp flick. A pretty damn good one, if I do say so myself. Not a typical story either.
Oskar, a bullied 12-year old, dreams of getting revenge against the boy who is picking on him. One day, he meets a peculiar girl named Eli. Eli is also 12 years old--and has been for quite awhile.
Through their friendship, Oskar finds the strength to stand up to the class bully and his gang. But when he realizes what Eli is and what she needs to do to survive, he's faced with a choice. Fleeing to survive has been Eli's way for so long, she finds herself faced with a choice of her own.
I watched it is Swedish with subtitles. Can't even tell you how the dubbed version is.
I'm just not a fan of dubbed.
This image reminds me of Eli--only without the piercings and kickass tat.
- Location:Not in Sweden...

Though I have to confess, I watched it dubbed. I now remember why I don't watch dubs (and I have to pick up a copy when I get back to the states so I can watch it subbed).
I know! I saw it at Bestbuy and looked it up on netflix. Definitely one of the best vamp flix I've ever watched. I liked it better in its original form. Dubbed voices always sound off, or squeaky-- Ick!
You ever see Rise? It's got Lucy Lui, Michael Chiklis, and Carla Gugino. That one's pretty good, too. Also not quite the typical vampire flick.
I have seen Rise, I love that one (not really sure why, but it was fun). Oh, how was the new Underworld? I won't get to see that one 'till I get home.
Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen were great. It was kind of funny to see Sheen in Underworld and then step into Frost/Nixon. He can really act. That movie was pretty fricken amazing.
Hey, you watch the Horrorfest's 8 films to Die For, right? I just saw The Broken and Voices. A doppleganger and ghost flick. Pretty good stuff. I'm slowly working my to the gory freaky stuff.
Hrm... If you haven't seen Underworld, that probably means you haven't seen Startrek and Wolverine yet. Startrek is awesome! See it when you can. It'll be out on dvd when you get back I'm sure.
Wolverine was a close second. I thought it could have been a little longer, but Logan's got a lot more storyline than most mutants. Origins had about three different endings. I think my theater had two. The only thing that really bothered me was Remy's non cajun accent. I couldn't let that slide. He really needed the accent to sell the character, but his moves were pretty slick.
I haven't seen T4 yet. People say it's good, I'll know by Sunday. I'm long overdue for a double feature and now I'm sleepy. Night!
I'm kind of upset that I won't get to see the new Star Trek in theatres, it'll be the only one. Though I don't remember seeing the first one, my dad tells me I was there and was quiet for the whole thing.
I did see the first half hour or so of the bootleg Wolverine that leaked out. Up to the point where he quit Stryker's team. I loved Deadpool there, and hope they move forward with his movie (but that's been in the works for years now).
Still, I will say one thing about Star Trek. When Spock tells you its okay to cheat--it really is okay to cheat xD
